First Steps
TBIG was established in 2013 as a pioneering initiative with the support of Technopark, Technopark Technology Business Incubator (T-TBI), GTech (Group of Technology Companies), NASSCOM, the Government of India, the Department of Science & Technology (DST), and the Government of Kerala.
Conceived as one of India’s first strategic industry support platforms dedicated to the incubation ecosystem, TBIG was founded with the vision of empowering incubators, startup ventures, innovation-driven enterprises, and emerging businesses. The organization was created to address the challenges faced by startups during their early and critical stages of growth by providing a collaborative ecosystem that encourages innovation, business development, networking, mentorship, industry engagement, and sustainable expansion.
From its inception, TBIG has adopted a sector-agnostic approach, extending its support to startups, MSMEs, SMEs, entrepreneurs, and innovation-led enterprises across diverse industries. Rather than focusing on a single domain, the organization promotes collaboration among incubators, incubated companies, government agencies, industry leaders, academia, investors, and technology partners to strengthen India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Initially launched with the support of Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram, TBIG envisioned building a nationwide innovation and business support network. Over the years, the organization has expanded its mission beyond incubation, fostering strategic partnerships, promoting innovation, enabling industry collaboration, facilitating knowledge sharing, and creating opportunities for business growth across the country.
A Historic Beginning
TBIG was officially inaugurated in 2013 during a landmark event that marked the beginning of a new collaborative movement for India’s startup and innovation ecosystem.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by distinguished leaders, including:

Kerala Startup Fair 2013
A Celebration of Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Technology
Kerala Startup Fest (KSF) 2013 was one of the landmark initiatives organized by Technology Business Incubation Group (TBIG) to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven business development in Kerala. Hosted at Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram, the event brought together startups, entrepreneurs, technology professionals, students, industry experts, investors, and business leaders from across the state on a common platform to connect, collaborate, and showcase innovation.
The festival featured a vibrant lineup of activities designed to encourage knowledge sharing and business networking. Technical presentations, expert panel discussions, interactive debates, and entrepreneurial sessions provided participants with valuable insights into emerging technologies, startup growth strategies, innovation, and the future of the technology ecosystem.
A major attraction of the event was the Startup Exhibition, where nearly 40 innovative startups showcased their products, technologies, and services. The exhibition offered the general public, the Technopark community, entrepreneurs, investors, and industry representatives an opportunity to experience cutting-edge innovations developed by Kerala’s emerging startup ecosystem. It also enabled startups to demonstrate their capabilities, receive valuable feedback, build industry connections, and explore new business opportunities.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from startups, innovators, academic institutions, and entrepreneurs representing all districts of Kerala, making it one of the state’s most inclusive startup networking platforms at the time.
The festival was further honored by the visit of Hon. Shri P. K. Kunhalikutty, Minister for Information Technology & Industries, Government of Kerala. During his visit, the Honorable Minister toured the startup exhibition, interacted directly with the founders, explored their innovative products and technologies, and congratulated the participating startups for their entrepreneurial vision and contributions to Kerala’s growing innovation ecosystem. His encouragement served as a significant inspiration to the young entrepreneurs and reinforced the Government’s commitment to fostering technology, innovation, and startup-led economic growth.
Kerala Startup Fest 2013 successfully strengthened collaboration among startups, industry, academia, government agencies, and the technology community. The event laid a strong foundation for future innovation initiatives and reflected TBIG’s commitment to building a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem that supports sustainable business growth, technological advancement, and innovation across Kerala and beyond.
